In this role, they implemented the program in Southeast Asia, Africa, and Latin America, focusing on improving livelihoods for smallholder farmers, enhancing certification processes, and facilitating market access and funding. Ashwin also engaged stakeholders in the public and private sectors to support smallholders' inclusion in global sustainable supply chains.

Before joining RSPO, Ashwin was an Assistant Technical Manager at RSPO and a Business Analyst at UTZ Certified. At UTZ Certified, Ashwin advised leading brands in the Coffee, Cocoa, and Tea industries on tracing their supply chains back to farms and plantations, enabling better monitoring and implementation of sustainable sourcing strategies. Ashwin also designed technology solutions to simplify and strengthen certification processes across various supply chains.

Ashwin's career began at Infosys, where they worked as a Business Analyst and later as a Technology Analyst from 2005 to 2010.

Ashwin Canakarambedu Selvaraj completed their Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Anna University, attending from 2001 to 2005. Later, in 2011, they pursued their Master's in Business Administration (MBA) with a specialization in Finance at the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University for a year. Furthermore, in 2014, they participated in the University of Amsterdam's Summer School program focused on Global Poverty and Inclusive Development, which lasted for a brief period.
