Cellulose Engineer at Rubi Laboratories

Guillermo Reyes has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Guillermo is currently working as a Cellulose Engineer at Rubi Laboratories since February 2023. Prior to this, they worked as a Researcher at Aalto University, UPM from July 2020 to February 2023, where they focused on developing new textiles and fiber technologies for the bio-economy.

From April 2019 to July 2020, Guillermo served as the Chemical Engineering School Director and a Professor at Universidad del Bío Bío. Guillermo also contributed to the creation of the Civil Chemical Engineering program during their tenure.

Further back in their career, Guillermo completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at Aalto University School of Science and Technology from April 2017 to July 2018. Guillermo also held part-time teaching positions at Universidad Católica de la Santísima Concepción from February 2010 to March 2013, and at Universidad San Sebastian from February 2011 to December 2012.

Earlier in their career, Guillermo gained valuable experience in research and development at the ceramics laboratory of Senco Colombiana S.A from October 2007 to February 2009. Guillermo began their professional journey as a Bachelor Student at Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana, where they studied from 2002 to 2007.

Guillermo Reyes has a diverse education history. Guillermo started by completing their high school education at Colegio La Milagrosa from 1995 to 2000, where they studied Electrical Technician.

Guillermo then pursued a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering at Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana, from 2001 to 2007. During their time there, they focused on Thermodynamic Properties.

After completing their bachelor's degree, Guillermo went on to further their education and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Engineering Science and Chemical Engineering from Universidad de Concepción. Guillermo studied there from 2008 to 2013.

Following their PhD, Guillermo engaged in postdoctoral research as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the BicMat Group, working on Chemical Engineering and materials science. Guillermo held this position from 2017 to 2018.

In 2020, Guillermo pursued another degree, this time in Engineering Pedagogy, specifically an Ing. Paed.IGIP from Universidad de La Frontera. Guillermo completed this program in 2021.

In addition to their formal education, Guillermo has also obtained various certifications. These include a course on Sustainability: Strategy and Opportunities for Industry from MIT Professional Education in 2022. Guillermo also completed a course on X-ray scattering methods for structural analysis of bio-based materials at Aalto University in 2021. Furthermore, they obtained a certification in Adobe Illustrator for science visualization from Andreas Dahlin: Trainer and Tutor in 2020. Guillermo also completed the Phase 1 of the Ing. Paed.IGIP certification offered by IGIP in 2020. Prior to that, they participated in a Problem Based Learning course funded by the British Council, Newton-Picarte Fund, and Universidad Católica de Temuco in 2016. Guillermo also completed a course on Strengthening Teaching and Learning from HARVARD-LASPAU ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL PROGRAMS FOR THE AMERICAS INC in 2015. Lastly, they obtained certifications in Wood Physical and Chemical Properties from ATCP Chile in 2013, Course Program Elaboration and Learning-Centered Teaching from ADPT, Universidad del Bío-Bío in 2013, and Thermodynamic Models: Fundamentals & Computational Aspects from Universidad Nacional de Córdoba in 2009.
