John Powell

John Powell is a Partner in the Banking & Finance group at Russell McVeagh. John has over 15 years' experience advising on a wide range of corporate finance transactions, with a particular focus on the banking and finance sector.

John began their career as an Associate at Linklaters, where they worked for seven years advising on banking and finance matters. John then moved to Russell McVeagh, where they have been a Partner for over eight years. John has advised on some of New Zealand's largest and most complex transactions, and has a strong track record in delivering results for their clients.

John Powell studied at the University of Canterbury and Christchurch Boys High School.

They are on a team with Deemple Budhia - Partner, Banking & Finance, Gareth Worthington - Special Counsel, Corporate Advisory, and Chris Curran - Partner, Litigation. John Powell reports to Jo Avenell, Chief Executive Officer.
