Antonio Tillis

Antonio Tillis is the current Chancellor of Rutgers University-Camden. Prior to this, they served as the Interim President of the University of Houston-Downtown from July 2020 to March 2021, the M. D. Anderson Professor in Antonio'spanic Studies and Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences at the University of Houston from January 2017 to June 2021, the Dean of the School of Languages, Cultures, and World Affairs at the College of Charleston from June 2014 to January 2017, and an Associate Professor at Dartmouth College from July 2009 to June 2014, where they also chaired African and African-American Studies. Antonio began their academic career as an Associate Professor at Purdue University from January 2000 to December 2009.

Antonio Tillis received their PhD in Romance Languages and Literatures from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Antonio also holds an MA in Spanish from Howard University and a BS in Spanish and English from Vanderbilt University.

Antonio Tillis reports to Jonathan Holloway, President. Some direct reports include Jimmy Jung - Senior Vice Chancellor, Rutgers University–Camden, Craig Westman - Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management, Rutgers University–Camden, and Rose Cuison-Villazor - Interim Co-Dean, Rutgers Law School. They work with Shawn Tucker - VP of Athletic Development, Deputy Athletic Director, Patrick Hobbs - Director, Intercollegiate Athletics, and Robin Semple - Vice Chancellor for Development.
