Jay A. Patel

Jay A. Patel has over 11 years of work experience in software engineering. In 2009, they began working as a Software Development Engineer at Yahoo!, where they developed a data warehousing tool for Search Ads. In 2010, they joined Pattern Insight as a Software Engineer, where they worked on Code Insight and Log Insight. In 2012, they were hired by VMware as a Staff Engineer, and they led the efforts to improve the end-to-end performance and responsiveness of Log Insight. In 2015, they joined Uber as a Senior Staff Software Engineer and Tech Lead Manager for Observability + SRE. In 2018, they became the CEO and Co-Founder of Herald (YC W19), a space for teams to collect, analyze, and collaborate on user feedback. Most recently, in 2021, they began working as a Software Engineer at Stripe, and in 2022, they joined Rutter as a Software Engineer.

Jay A. Patel attended The University of Texas-Pan American, where they earned a BSCS in Computer Science and Mathematics. Jay A. then went on to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where they obtained a PhD in Computer Science. Most recently, they attended Y Combinator.
