Joseph Rutakangwa began their work experience in 2011 as the Regional Chairperson for the Youth of United Nations Association. In 2013, they became an Alumni Trainer for the YES Program. From 2013 to 2018, they worked as a Business Intelligence and Analytics Consultant as a self-employed individual. In 2016, they took on the role of Vice President at the Young Professional Economists Network. In the same year, they also evaluated International Labor Standards as part of the Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee at Harvard World Model United Nations. In 2016, they worked as a Trade Marketing professional at Pernod Ricard. In 2017, they briefly served as a Business Development professional at Pernod Ricard, focusing on Route to Market projects and data analysis. Since 2018, Joseph Rutakangwa has been the Founder and CEO of Rwazi, a market intelligence platform that collects data from emerging markets to help multinational companies drive revenue and expand.

Joseph Rutakangwa has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management from Glasgow Caledonian University. Joseph also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in International Business from Lehigh University. Additionally, Joseph has a BA in Business Management from The African Leadership University. In 2009-2010, they attended the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) Program at PCM High School in Monroe, IA. Joseph has obtained certification in Training & Development from the American Councils for International Education.
