Larissa Varela

Larissa Varela, MSW, LSW, currently serves as the Director of Administration for Medical Oncology Services at RWJBarnabas Health, a role initiated in January 2024 that involves overseeing the administrative infrastructure of a complex academic clinical division. Prior to this position, Larissa was a Clinical Social Worker at Guided Life Structures since April 2021 and previously held the title of Director of Faculty Recruitment & Affairs at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey from May 2011 to January 2024, where responsibilities included faculty appointments, promotions, and program development in collaboration with RWJ Barnabas Health. Additional experience includes serving as a Clinical Social Worker in psychotherapy at the Center for Counseling & Therapy from August 2015 to May 2018, and as an Administrator at Cornerstone Day School & Effective School Solutions from October 2006 to May 2011. Larissa Varela holds both a Bachelor's Degree in Financial Economics & Criminal Justice and a Master's Degree in Social Work from Rutgers University.
