Ryman Auditorium
Helen Close has a comprehensive background in education and community engagement, with experience spanning various roles since 1994. Currently serving as an Usher at Ryman Auditorium since May 2022, Helen previously worked as a Special Education Paraprofessional at Waverly Belmont Elementary School from October 2018 to November 2019. Helen's extensive tenure at Ensworth School from 2005 to 2017 included roles as a Substitute Teacher, Receptionist, Librarian, and coaching in tennis and soccer, demonstrating a passion for teaching K-12 students. Additionally, Helen co-founded and co-chaired the Rally Rumble Music Festival from 2011 to 2015, aimed at empowering teens to support childhood cancer research. Early experience includes serving as a Camp Counselor and Nature Guide at WildCare in San Rafael and an educational background comprising a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies and Planning from Sonoma State University.
Ryman Auditorium
A National Historic Landmark, Ryman Auditorium was built by Captain Thomas G. Ryman in 1892. Ryman Auditorium is a 12-time winner of the prestigious Pollstar Theatre of the Year award. The historic venue is well-known as the Mother Church of Country Music and is the most famous former home of Grand Ole Opry (1943-1974). The Ryman has been featured in numerous film and television projects including Coal Miner’s Daughter, The Johnny Cash Show, American Idol, Nashville, and more. While offering a diverse lineup and thriving concert schedule (with over 200 shows per year), the venue is also open for daytime tours year-round. A coveted under-play for many, her iconic stage has seen the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Mumford and Sons, and Tom Petty in recent years.
