Interim Director Of Development at SA YOUTH

Colleen Ferguson has a diverse and extensive work experience in various educational and conservation-focused organizations. Colleen is currently employed at SA Youth as the Director of Academic Achievers, a role they started in October 2021. Prior to that, they served as the Director of Strategic Partnerships and OST Data at SA Youth from April 2021 to October 2021.

Before joining SA Youth, Colleen worked as the Director of Public Programs at the Witte Museum from February 2019 to April 2021.

Colleen's experience in environmental education includes their role as an Assistant Supervisor at SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment, where they taught and inspired guests of all ages about ocean conservation from December 2018 to May 2019.

Colleen also served as a Senior Educator at the San Diego Zoo Global from May 2014 to September 2018, where they developed and implemented outreach programming and communicated the zoo's mission to the public. Colleen was involved in saiga antelope conservation in Central Asia as part of the zoo's conservation projects.

Colleen's early career includes their role as an Animal Trainer at the Texas Biomedical Research Institute, where they focused on training behaviors related to animal husbandry and management from October 2012 to April 2014. Colleen also worked as an Educator at SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment from May 2008 to November 2012.

In addition, Colleen gained experience in the field of marine mammal care and education through their Marine Mammal Internship at Walt Disney World from January 2011 to June 2011.

Colleen Ferguson pursued their education in a chronological manner. Colleen began their undergraduate studies in 2007 at Texas A&M University Galveston Campus, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree with a focus on Marine Biology in 2010. After completing their undergraduate studies, they continued their academic journey at Miami University from 2015 to 2017, obtaining a Master of Arts degree in Biology, with a general focus.
