Education & Training Program Lead at SAAFE CRC

Lisa Kirkland is an experienced professional in the fields of education, training, and microbiological research. Currently serving as the Education & Training Program Lead at SAAFE CRC since February 2025, Lisa oversees the SAAFE Scholars Program and develops training opportunities in areas such as One Health and transdisciplinary research. With a longstanding affiliation as an Adjunct Academic at Flinders University since December 2015, Lisa has contributed significantly to research in molecular biology and bioinformatics, managing diverse projects related to microbial communities. Previous roles include Head of Cultured Therapies at BiomeBank, where Lisa led the development of microbial therapies, and Analytical Microbiologist at Seeley International Pty Ltd, overseeing laboratory operations and microbial testing. Lisa holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Microbial Ecology from Flinders University and has a comprehensive background in quality assurance, research supervision, and academic instruction.
