Kama Maharaj is the founder and managing director of Sacha Cosmetics Ltd, a makeup brand specifically developed for women of color. Kama started the company in 1979 in Trinidad and Tobago, recognizing the lack of makeup options for women of color. Sacha Cosmetics is now the most advanced brand of makeup for multicultural women. Prior to this, Kama worked as a general manager at Black Heritage Limited and a mathematics teacher at Fyzabad Composite School.
Kama Maharaj's education history starts in 1969 when they attended Naparima College for high school, specializing in Physical Sciences. Kama completed their high school education in 1975. In the same year, they enrolled at Bloor Collegiate and obtained a high school graduate degree, focusing on Social Sciences, in 1975. Following this, Kama Maharaj pursued a Bachelor of Science Honors degree in Economics at York University from 1972 to 1978.
