Gabriela Rico possesses extensive experience in air quality management and environmental research, currently serving as an Associate Air Quality Specialist at the Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District since June 2022. Previously, Gabriela worked as a Senior Laboratory Technician at the UC Davis Air Quality Research Center from March 2019 to May 2022, monitoring over 160 industrial and rural sites for compliance with EPA regulations and collaborating on aerosol filter preparation and analysis. Prior roles include serving as a Peer Lead Undergraduate Chemistry Tutor at California State University, Monterey Bay, and as a Natural Resource Intern with the Bureau of Land Management, where Gabriela contributed to ecological projects and biodiversity surveys. Gabriela holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science Technology and Policy, with a minor in Chemistry, from California State University, Monterey Bay.

About Us Sac Metro Air District is designated by EPA as part of the Sacramento Federal Ozone Nonattainment Area (SFNA), which is comprised of all of Sacramento and Yolo Counties, the eastern portion of Solano County, the southern portion of Sutter County, the western slopes of El Dorado and Placer Counties up to the Sierra crest, and includes four other local air districts. Sac Metro Air District is responsible for monitoring air pollution within the Basin and for developing and administering programs to reduce air pollution levels below the health-based standards established by the state and federal governments.
