Audley Brown

Audley Brown is a Jamaican-born American automotive engineer at Volvo Trucks. He is currently the vice president of powertrain engineering in the United States. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Kettering University and a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Wayne State University. Audley began his career with General Motors as an associate engineer. After various positions in propulsion system engineering and motorsports technology, he was appointed engineering group manager of software release readiness in 2000. Shortly thereafter, he relocated to Shanghai to adapt and develop propulsion system controls for the local Chinese market. After this international experience, he returned to the United States and was promoted to director of propulsion control system integration in 2004. In 2009 he transitioned to advanced engineering where he had responsibility for future GM engine technology and racing engines as director of global engine advanced engineering. This led to his role as director of North America diesel calibration and regional sector leader where he was responsible for North American development and application of diesel engines from 2013 to 2018. After brief stints with responsibility for front wheel drive transmissions, electric propulsion systems and additive manufacturing at General Motors, Audley joined Volvo Trucks in 2021. At the Volvo Group, Audley is able to use his broad background of prior experience with his responsibility for the entire range of propulsion system engineering.

In addition to his passion for engineering he also enjoys motorsports, sports cars and cooking for his family and friends. In his downtime, he reads science fiction and mows the lawn.
