Intake and Family Coach Supervisor at Safe Families for Children

Emily Cowan is the Intake and Family Coach Supervisor at Safe Families for Children. Prior to this, they were the Parish Administrator/Community Life Coordinator at Trinity Grace Church - Crown Heights from January 2014 to January 2016. Before that, they were the Social Worker/Volunteer Coordinator at Stepping Stones from September 2009 to May 2011.

Emily has always had a passion for helping others. As a Social Worker, they provided case management to previously homeless youth aged 16-20 in a transitional housing program. Emily also collaborated with residents, staff, interns, and partnering agencies to provide supportive services, life skills, and health goals for the residents. In their role as Volunteer Coordinator, they organized, initiated, and realized meaningful and successful experiences for potential volunteers.

Emily is an excellent communicator and has superb organizational skills. Emily is detail oriented and is able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Emily is a team player who is always willing to go above and beyond to help their team succeed.

Emily Cowan has a Master of Social Work from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Linguistics from Moody Bible Institute.

Emily Cowan reports to Laura Galt, Safe Families Director. Some direct reports include Hilary Yeo - Family Support Coordinator, Maria Lorenz - Family Support Coordinator. Some of their coworkers include Nicole Amoako - Church Engagement Coordinator, Adriana Caicedo - Community Liason.
