Dexter O'Connell currently serves as the Director of Youth Policy and Advocacy at Safe Place for Youth since June 2022. O'Connell has extensive experience in officiating multiple sports across four states through O'Connell Officiating Services, where certifications in Basketball and Soccer are held. Previous roles include serving as Bridge Home Deputy for the City of Los Angeles, Associate Planner for the City of Chico, and Associate Planner for Zoning in the City of Charleston, where efforts focused on city planning and zoning ordinances. A former Field Director for John Tecklenburg's mayoral campaign, O'Connell managed a large team and significantly boosted voter turnout. Teaching experience includes Spanish instruction at Detroit Public Schools and providing educational support in writing and history. Dexter O'Connell holds a Bachelor of Arts in Geography from the University of Chicago, where contributions to the Transportation Security Advisory Board were made from 2011 to 2013.
