David Poole

David Poole has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. David is currently serving as the CTO and CISO at Safe Swiss Cloud AG since January 2017. In this role, they are responsible for containerisation on OpenShift and deployment on OpenStack and VMware cloud technology, as well as ISO 27001/17/18 management. David also has a keen interest in machine learning and quantum computing.

Prior to this, David was the CEO of TECH OP AG from January 1991 to December 2016. During their tenure, they developed a range of mobile and web-based market data products, establishing connections with over 120 banks worldwide. Most of these products were sold/deployed through their partner Thomson Reuters.

David also worked as a Consultant at Thomson Reuters from January 2014 to September 2016. Here, they were responsible for the mobile delivery of TREP/RT sourced data for TARGET2, serving European Central Banks. David also developed a new mobile front-end in AngularJS/Java EE for TRIS, enabling viewing of Euro flows on iOS, BlackBerry 10, and Android platforms.

In addition, David has experience working as a Market Data Consultant at UBS from June 1994 to June 2001, where they were involved in various projects related to the development and support of the Reuters infrastructure for Wealth Management, Investment Banking, and UBS Quotes.

Before that, they worked as a Software Developer at BBP AG and AOI (Canton Zürich) from June 1992 to June 1994 and June 1991 to May 1992, respectively. During this time, they contributed to the development of the Inter Bank Gateway (IGT) and SWIFT Host-Link for payment routing and reliable communications platforms.

David's earlier work experiences include roles as a Software Developer at Ascom Holding AG from April 1989 to May 1991, Telekurs AG from June 1987 to March 1989, and Dowty Group PLC from April 1982 to May 1987, where they also worked as an Electronic Engineer. Additionally, they served as an Executive Director at Tech OP Solutions Ltd from 1983 to 1991.

David Poole obtained their Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Applied Physics from Coventry University, where they studied from 1974 to 1978. David then pursued a Master's degree (MSc.) in Solid State Electronics at the University of Birmingham from 1978 to 1979. David's education continued with a PhD in Physics at the University of Cambridge, which they completed between 1979 and 1982.
