Åsa Gilbert has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of humanitarian demining and mine action. Åsa began their career in 2004 as an EOD Coordinator for the United Nations Mine Action Service, where they were responsible for coordinating operations in central Sudan. Åsa later worked for the Swedish Armed Forces as an Instructor and then joined the United Nations Mine Action Service again in 2006 as a Quality Assurance Officer, where they developed technical standards and conducted accident investigations.
In 2009, Gilbert joined the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD) as a Land Release Research Officer, focusing on efficient survey and clearance of mines and explosive remnants of war. Åsa later became a Project Manager at GICHD, providing operational support and researching efficient Quality Management systems.
In 2012, Gilbert moved to Norwegian People's Aid / Norsk Folkehjelp, where they held multiple roles as an Operations Manager. Åsa managed staff, established operational programs, and designed information management systems for mine action projects in Myanmar.
In 2019, Gilbert joined SafeLane Global as a Program Manager and later became a Business Development Manager (International). Currently, they hold the position of Business Development Director at SafeLane Global.

Åsa Gilbert obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Skövde from 2000 to 2005. In 2004, they also briefly studied Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering at Griffith University. Additionally, they hold a certification in Explosive Ordnance Disposal Level 3 from the Swedish Armed Forces, obtained in 2004.
