Founder, Chief Scientist, and CTO at Saffe

Giovani Chiachia, PhD has worked in a variety of roles since 1998. Giovani began their career as a Software Engineer at G&P, where they were involved in large scale software development projects. In 2000, they moved to Casas Sendas (incorporated by Grupo Pão de Açúcar) as a Software Engineer in the Special Projects department. From 2002 to 2004, they worked as a Business Consultant at TOTVS, implementing ERP software and automating processes. In 2004, they became the CIO of SENDI Engineering and Buildings, leading the IT department of a 600 employee company. From 2008 to 2009, they were a Research Scholar at São Paulo State University, working with Nilceu Marana at the High Performance Computing Lab. In 2008, they also worked as a Research Scholar at Fraunhofer IIS, where part of their master's thesis was developed. From 2009 to 2013, they were a Post-doctoral Researcher at the University of Campinas, working on the conception of brain-inspired visual hierarchies. In 2012, they were a Research Scholar at Harvard University, working with David Cox at the Vision Lab. Since 2015, they have been the Founder, Chief Scientist, and CTO of Saffe, leveraging facial recognition and spoofing detection technology for the authentication of financial services and secure transactions.

Giovani Chiachia, PhD obtained their Bachelor of Science in Information Systems from Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP) between 2002 and 2005. Giovani then went on to obtain their Master of Science in Computer Science from the same university between 2007 and 2008. Lastly, they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science from Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP) between 2009 and 2013.
