Eric Schadt started their work experience in 1998 as a Senior Research Scientist at Roche Bioscience. Eric then worked as a Chief Scientist at Rosetta Inpharmatics from 1999 to 2001. From 2001 to 2009, Schadt served as an Executive Director at Merck. In 2009, they became the Chief Scientific Officer at Pacific Biosciences until 2012. In 2009, Schadt also co-founded Sage Bionetworks and served as a Board Member. Eric then joined Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in 2011, where they held multiple roles including Professor/Dean for Precision Medicine, Founding Director of Icahn Institute for Genomics & Multiscale Biology, and Chair of the Department of Genetics and Genomic Sciences. In 2016, Schadt founded Sema4 and served as the Founder, CEO, and later as the Founder, President, and Chief R&D Officer. Currently, they are the Chief Scientific Officer at Pathos since 2022.
Eric Schadt earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo in the years 1986 to 1991. Eric then pursued a Master of Arts degree in Pure Mathematics at the University of California, Davis from 1992 to 1993. Subsequently, Eric attended UCLA, where they obtained a Ph.D. in Biomathematics from 1993 to 1999. Prior to their college education, they completed their high school studies, receiving a High School Degree in College Prep from Lakeshore High School from 1979 to 1983. Additionally, they have some association with the University of Oregon, although specific details regarding the dates and degrees earned are not provided.
