Richard Fornicola

Richard Fornicola has a strong background in process development and chemical development for pharmaceutical companies. RICHARD is currently working at Sage Therapeutics, starting as the Director of Process Development in January 2021 and progressing to the role of Senior Director in December 2022. Prior to their current position, Richard worked at Johnson Matthey Pharma Services as the Global Director of Chemical Development from April 2019 to January 2021. During this time, they were responsible for leading the API process development and kilo lab scale manufacturing activities in the company's Health Sector. RICHARD also held positions as Assistant Director, Section Head, and Principal Scientist in the Chemical Development department. Before joining Johnson Matthey, Richard worked at AMRI as a Senior Research Scientist II from September 2003 to July 2010. Overall, Richard's work experience spans over 18 years in various leadership and scientific roles within the pharmaceutical industry.

Richard Fornicola completed their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Chemistry at Michigan Technological University from 1992 to 1996. RICHARD pursued further education at Wayne State University from 1996 to 2001, earning a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry. Following this, from 2001 to 2003, they were a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Pittsburgh, focusing on Organic Chemistry.
