Theresa Vera

Theresa Vera, PhD, has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and companies. From 2023 onward, they serve as a Senior Medical Director at Sage Therapeutics. Before entering the industry, Dr. Vera conducted research as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Northwestern University Institute for Neuroscience from 1998 to 2000, where they investigated novel proteins and their interactions with brain neurotransmitter receptors. Prior to that, they served as a Postdoctoral (PRAT) Fellow at the National Institute of Mental Health from 1996 to 1998, studying the structure and function of the serotonin transporter.

Theresa earned their Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Loyola University Chicago, where they studied from 1984 to 1988. Theresa then pursued their academic interests further and obtained a PhD in Pharmacology from the same institution, studying from 1990 to 1995.
