Maxwell Burns

Maxwell Burns is a seasoned tax advisory professional with extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions tax. Currently serving as Managing Director at Sagemont Advisors since February 2022, Maxwell previously held the position of Manager at RSM US LLP, focusing on international tax for cross-border M&A advisory, from November 2020 to February 2022. Prior to that, Maxwell gained valuable experience at KPMG in roles including Manager and Senior Associate in Mergers & Acquisitions Tax, and also worked as a Senior Associate in Global Transaction Tax at Alvarez & Marsal. Maxwell began the career at KPMG, where initial roles included Senior Associate and Associate in Financial Services - Federal Tax. Maxwell holds a Master of Accounting with a focus on Taxation from Florida State University and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Florida.
