Charlotte Runzel

Head of Government Affairs at SailPlan

Charlotte Runzel has worked in various roles in the public policy sector since 2015. From 2015 to 2017, they worked as a Biomechanics Research Apprentice at the University of California, Berkeley and an Ocean Policy Intern at the Smithsonian Institution, Museum of Natural Charlotte'story. From 2017 to 2019, they held various roles at the National Audubon Society, including Policy Analyst, Policy Associate, Interim Vice President of Coastal Conservation, and Public Policy Fellow. In 2019, they were a Policy Fellow at Amara Legal Center. In 2021, they became a Commerce, Science, and Transportation Fellow at the United States Senate. Most recently, they were appointed Head of Government Affairs and Policy Manager at SailPlan in 2022.

Charlotte Runzel obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Earth and Planetary Sciences - Marine Science with a Minor in Conservation and Resource Studies from the University of California, Berkeley between 2012 and 2016. Charlotte then went on to receive an MPP in Public Policy Analysis from Georgetown University McCourt School of Public Policy between 2021 and 2023. Additionally, they have obtained certifications in Adult CPR and First Aid from UC Berkeley Rec Sports.
