Rob Barnes serves as the Chief Technology Officer at Sainsbury's since August 2025, where Rob leads a team of approximately 3,000 technology professionals focused on the Digital & Technology agenda for one of the UK's most trusted retailers. Previously, Rob held the position of Chief Information Officer at Asda from January 2024 to July 2025, managing a digital and technology team of around 2,600. Rob also contributed significantly to Marks and Spencer between May 2019 and January 2024, initially as Chief Technology Officer for the Food & Retail sector and then as Chief Technology Officer - Delivery, overseeing numerous operations across various business areas. Rob's career began at Accenture in August 2003, culminating in a Managing Director role where Rob guided significant technology modernization efforts for major UK Retail and Consumer goods clients up until May 2019.
