Melanie Baxter

Melanie Baxter is a highly experienced Clinical Cancer Genetic Counselor currently employed at Saint Francis Healthcare System since March 2019. With a background in laboratory cancer genetics, Melanie served as a Laboratory Cancer Genetic Counselor at GeneDx from February 2016 to March 2019, where responsibilities included generating customized reports for genetic tests and conducting literature reviews for variant classification. Prior roles include Senior Cancer Genetic Counselor at InformedDNA, where family-based cancer risk assessments were provided via telephone, and establishing the first Cancer Genetics Risk Assessment Program at Saint Francis Medical Center. Additional experience includes serving as Program Coordinator for the Heartland Regional Genetics & Newborn Screening Collaborative and adjunct instructor at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Melanie holds a Master's degree in Genetic Counseling from Johns Hopkins School of Public Health/National Institutes of Health and a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
