Michelle Pearson, adjunct instructor of dance, holds a B.F.A. in dance/choreography from East Carolina University, where she won the Wright University Award, ECU's most prestigious award given to an undergraduate recognizing academic achievement, service to both the university and community, and demonstrated leadership.
She is the artistic director of Black Box Dance Theatre in Raleigh, an artistic associate with the Liz Lerman Dance Exchange, an A+ Fellow at A+ Schools of North Carolina; and a William C. Friday Fellow for Human Relations. Her extensive experience includes serving as a cultural diplomat for the U.S. Department of State, choreographer, master facilitator, dance company member, and more. She has been a guest artist and/or adjunct faculty at various institutions including UNC-Greensboro, Meredith College, James Madison University, the American Dance Festival, Saint Mary’s School, Arizona State University, Wake County Public Schools, Arts Together, Peace College, North Carolina State University, East Carolina University, Baltic Dance Festival, American University, Harvard Medical School, Tulane University, and Catholic University.
