Subhro Guhathakurta

Executive Director, Platform Development & Genetic Engineering at SalioGen Therapeutics

Subhro Guhathakurta has worked in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry since 2009. Subhro began their career as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Joan & Sanford I. Weill Medical College of Cornell University. In 2009, they moved to University of Central Florida as an Assistant Scholar Scientist/Research Assistant Professor, where they identified novel molecular pathways for epigenetic regulation of α-synuclein in Parkinson's disease, and generated toxin-based animal models of PD. In 2019, they joined Renascent Biosciences as a Group Leader-Molecular Biology, where they worked as a lead molecular biologist and managed a team of scientists. Subhro helped in lead identification for Alzheimer's disease, and developed over 100s of AAV-based innovative multifunctional vectors for AD. In 2021, they joined SalioGen Therapeutics as Senior Director, leading a large team of scientists in early discovery & pre-clinical spaces. Subhro is developing a best-in-class non viral integrative gene therapy platform for in-vivo indications, and improving safety and precision of the platform.

Subhro Guhathakurta completed a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biotechnology from the University of Calcutta in 2009. From 2001 to 2003, they obtained a Master's Degree in Zoology from the same university. Subhro also earned a Bachelor's Degree in Honors in Zoology from the University of Calcutta between 1998 and 2001.
