Jim Matheson

Jim Matheson is currently the Director at Sallie Mae. Jim was previously the Principal at Squire Patton Boggs, a position they held from January 2015 to June 2016. Before that, they served as the U.S. Congressman from Utah for 15 years, from January 2001 to December 2015. In this role, they held various committee assignments and other positions, such as Chief Deputy Whip of the Democratic Caucus and Co-Chair of the Blue Dog Coalition. Prior to their time in congress, Matheson was the President of The Matheson Group, an energy consulting firm they founded in 1999, specializing in strategies for businesses responding to deregulation of energy markets. Jim began their career in 1991 as a Senior Associate at Energy Strategies, Inc.

Jim Matheson graduated from Harvard University with a Bachelor's degree in Government. Jim then went on to earn their Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) from UCLA Anderson School of Management with a focus in Finance.
