Joachim Horn's work experience began in 2007 as a Research Assistant at Vrije Universiteit Brussel. In 2008, they worked as a Sales Assistant at Ortis Laboratories, analyzing the effectiveness of a marketing campaign. In 2010, Joachim worked as a Manufacturing Engineer at CAPAUL, providing support to the production team. Joachim then joined Cummins Inc. in 2011 as a Supply Chain Engineer, reporting on supply chain efficiency improvements. In 2012, Joachim worked as a Mechanical Engineering + Business Analyst at Eos Energy Storage, focusing on material optimization and market analysis. That same year, they co-founded and chaired the Design Engineering Society at Imperial College London. In 2013, Joachim worked as a Researcher at Tokyo Institute of Technology, managing projects and events related to innovation and creativity design. Joachim also founded SAM Labs, an award-winning K12 EdTech company, where they served as Founder & CEO. In 2018, Joachim became a School Governor at Mowlem Primary School, supporting the administration and teaching team.

Joachim Horn obtained their Master of Engineering (MEng) degree in Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College London, where they studied from 2009 to 2013. Prior to that, they attended the International School of Brussels from 2006 to 2009, but the details of the degree or field of study are not provided. In addition to their educational background, Joachim also holds several certifications. Joachim became a SAM Labs Certified Trainer in Computational Thinking (L1-L3) in June 2017, and they graduated from the Microsoft Ventures Accelerator program in December 2014. Furthermore, Joachim has served as a speaker at Holland Park School in London through the Founders4Schools organization in September 2016.
