Nitin Sharma has held various roles throughout their work experience. Nitin started their career as an Executive at PRADAN in 2000 and then became an Independent Consultant for organizations such as UNICEF, CARE India, and BASIX. In 2004, they worked as a Project Coordinator for Microfinance at CARE India. From 2006 to 2007, they were a Programme Manager at Sambodhi Research & Communications Pvt. Ltd. and then became their Chief Strategy Officer from 2007 onwards. In 2009, they became the Chief Operating Officer at Microfinance Connect, a Sambodhi Initiative. Finally, in 2010, they became the Executive Director at Sambodhi Research & Management Institute until 2016.
Nitin Sharma completed their Bachelor's Degree from Bundelkhand University in 1998, with a focus on Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. Nitin then went on to obtain a Master's Degree in Forestry Management from the Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal, from 1998 to 2000.

Sambodhi also works towards enhancing appreciation of evidence-based functioning among development organisations and practitioners. As part of our field-building effort, we co-founded the Community of Evaluators-South Asia (CoE-SA); are home to the South Asian Journal for Evaluation in Practice (SAJEP) – first-of-its-kind peer reviewed journal on evaluation from this region; and have trained more than 5,000 professionals on M&E and related areas.
