Kai Sotamaa

Kai Sotamaa is an experienced finance professional currently serving as the Group Chief Risk Officer at Sampo plc since April 2019. Prior to this role, Sotamaa was the Head of Risk Management at Ilmarinen from June 2008 to March 2019, focusing on enterprise risk management and investment risk management. Previously, Sotamaa worked at the Bank of Finland, first as a Financial Economist, conducting strategic asset allocation analysis, and then as a Portfolio Manager, specializing in performance measurement and credit portfolio risk. Earlier career experience includes serving as a Portfolio Manager and risk management specialist at Arcos Fund Management Co. Educational qualifications include a Chartered Financial Analyst designation from the CFA Institute and a Master of Social Sciences in Economics, Mathematics, and International Law from the University of Helsinki.
