Wael Barakat

Wael Barakat's work experience begins with their current role at Samsara, where they hold the position of Director of Engineering, Firmware starting in January 2023. Prior to this, they worked at Samsara as a Senior Manager, Firmware / Embedded Software Engineering from April 2021 to January 2023.

Before joining Samsara, Wael was with Level Home Inc. as the VP of Engineering and Founding Engineer from May 2017 to April 2021.

Wael had previous experience at Otto LLC, where they worked as a Senior Embedded Software Engineer from October 2014 to March 2017.

Prior to Otto LLC, Wael worked at Apple as an iOS Wireless Software/Firmware Engineer from November 2011 to October 2014.

Wael also worked at Qualcomm as a Modem DSP Firmware Engineer from July 2009 to November 2011.

In addition to their industry experience, Wael worked as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Texas at Austin from August 2007 to May 2009.

Wael also had internship experiences at Qualcomm and DLR (German Aerospace Center) in 2008 and 2006 respectively.

Wael Barakat pursued their Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer & Communications Engineering at the American University of Beirut from 2003 to 2007. Following this, they went on to obtain their Master of Science degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, where they studied from 2007 to 2009.
