Cherise Rohr-Allegrini, PhD, MPH has extensive work experience in public health and infectious diseases. Cherise currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the San Antonio AIDS Foundation (SAAF). In their previous role as a Public Health Consultant at Dr. Rohr Consulting, they worked on expanding the Immunization Partnership in Texas and provided subject matter expertise in epidemiology and infectious disease control for Baptist Child and Family Services. Cherise also worked as the Director of Research at The Immunization Partnership, where they focused on improving immunization rates in Texas and organizing educational sessions for healthcare providers. Additionally, they worked as a Health and Science Writer for The Rivard Report, a Lecturer in Biological Sciences at the University of the Incarnate Word, and held managerial positions at the DSHS Region 8 and the San Antonio Metro Health District. Earlier in their career, they conducted research on malaria and drug resistance with the Shoklo Malaria Unit and the Mahidol Oxford Tropical Medicine Research Unit in Thailand.
Cherise Rohr-Allegrini, PhD, MPH, earned their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Political Science (International Relations) from UC Santa Barbara in 1992. Cherise then went on to complete their Master of Public Health (MPH) degree in Infectious Disease Epidemiology at Yale University, School of Epidemiology and Public Health from 1992 to 1994.
Subsequently, Cherise pursued further education and obtained a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) degree in Epidemiology from Yale University from 1994 to 1997. Cherise further specialized in Tropical Diseases at the Eck Institute for Global Health at the University of Notre Dame, where they earned their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree from 1997 to 2001.
Apart from their formal education, they also completed additional leadership programs, including the Latina Leadership Institute Class 3 at the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in 2018, and Leadership SAISD in 2017-2018.

Founded in 1986, our mission at the San Antonio AIDS Foundation (SAAF, /sāf/) is to prevent the spread of HIV and provide comprehensive services to individuals affected with HIV/AIDS. Our services include prevention education services, free HIV and syphilis testing, in-house special care facility, behavioral health counseling, medical and social case management, a transitional housing program (the first in San Antonio to offer such housing to transgender individuals), a 365-day-a-year hot meals program for HIV-positive people in the San Antonio area, oral health care referrals and more.
