Melissa Murphy

Melissa Murphy is an experienced journalism professional with a solid background in editorial roles, currently serving on the editorial staff of the San Antonio Express-News since November 2022. Previously, Melissa held the position of Managing Editor at the Santa Cruz Sentinel from November 2018 to October 2022, where responsibilities included delivering high-quality content for over 36,000 daily readers and leading a newsroom team. Prior to that, Melissa worked at The Reporter for over a decade, advancing from Reporter to Managing Editor, while also serving in positions such as Local News Editor. Early career achievements include a role as News Editor/Reporter at The State Hornet. Melissa holds a Bachelor's degree in Journalism with a minor in Human Resources from California State University-Sacramento.
