Derek Boese

General Manager at San Antonio River Authority

Derek Boese serves as the General Manager for the San Antonio River Authority since May 2021 and has been an Adjunct Professor at Tulane University's School of Professional Advancement since May 2017, instructing in Critical Infrastructure within the Emergency and Security Studies Program. Previously, Derek held the position of Chief Administrative Officer at the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority East from March 2017 to April 2021, managing a significant agency responsible for flood risk management in the New Orleans region. Other notable roles include Executive Director at the East Jefferson Levee District and Vice President at Professional Service Industries, Inc., alongside various leadership positions at Atkins and PBS&J. Derek served as an officer in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers from 1995 to 2006. Educational qualifications include a Doctor of Law from Loyola University New Orleans, a Master's in Engineering Management from Missouri University of Science and Technology, and a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering from Rice University.
