Richard Milner is a Professor at the San Diego Biomedical Research Institute since December 2018, previously serving as an Associate Professor and Group Leader at The Scripps Research Institute from August 2004 to July 2022. Milner's research focuses on vascular modeling in the central nervous system, specifically its implications in multiple sclerosis and ischemic stroke. Earlier roles include Assistant Professor and Senior Research Associate where Milner investigated molecular mechanisms of vascular remodeling and extracellular matrix proteins in cerebral blood vessels. Milner's academic journey includes a Wellcome Trust Career Development Fellowship at The University of Cambridge from January 2003 to August 2004, along with a Doctor of Philosophy in Developmental Neuroscience and a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from The University of Cambridge, and a Bachelor's degree in Physiology from The University of Leeds.
