Mateo Hoke

Mateo Hoke is an accomplished executive editor currently serving at San Diego Magazine since July 2022, with additional experience as a contributing editor. With a background in book editing and production for Voice of Witness, Mateo has co-authored significant works such as *Six by Ten: Stories from Solitary* and *Palestine Speaks: Narratives of Life Under Occupation*, which address vital social issues through oral histories. Previous roles include writer/producer at AJ+, lecturer at UC-Berkeley Advanced Media Institute, and lead writer at Al Jazeera Media Network, where Mateo focused on innovative storytelling for a global audience. Additional experience spans roles in hospitality management, research, and as an arts and culture reporter, underscoring a diverse skill set in media and journalism.
