Aren Skalman

Lead Exhibits Designer + Fabricator at San Diego Natural History Museum

Aren Skalman has a diverse work experience spanning over several industries and roles. Starting in 1999, Skalman worked as a Graphic Designer at Motivational Systems, Inc. and later at Haro Masi Bikes in 2008. In 2009, Skalman joined TeachLogic as a Graphic Designer, a position held until 2012. Skalman then became a Student Research Fellow at Fulbright Nehru in 2012, where the focus was on researching modern, contemporary, and folk art in India. Skalman continued to gain teaching experience as an Associate Faculty at MiraCosta College from 2014 onwards. In 2015, Skalman worked as a Lecturer at San Diego State University. Skalman's most recent role is as the Lead Exhibits Designer + Fabricator at the San Diego Natural History Museum, starting in 2017.

Aren Skalman pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Painting & Sculpture from Point Loma Nazarene University from 1993 to 1997. Later, from 2004 to 2006, they studied Graphic Design at San Diego City College. Finally, from 2010 to 2014, Aren Skalman was an MFA student at San Diego State University, with a concentration in sculpture.
