Jason Maher

Jason Maher has extensive experience in school counseling, currently serving as the District Head Counselor II for the Counseling & Guidance Department at San Diego Unified School District since September 2015. In this role, Jason collaborates with 15 counselors to support 1,100 seniors across three high schools, focusing on innovative strategies to ensure timely graduation. Previously, as a Middle School Counselor, Jason managed a caseload of 400 students and contributed to curriculum and social-emotional learning decisions. Prior to joining San Diego Unified, Jason worked as a High School Counselor at Colorado Springs Harrison District 2 Schools, where the establishment of a dual enrollment program led to the successful graduation of 28 students with associates degrees. Jason holds a Master of Science in Counselor Education/School Counseling and Guidance Services and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, both from San Diego State University.
