Paul Knudsen

Director, Development & Communications at San Francisco CASA

Paul Knudsen is the Director of Development and Communications at San Francisco CASA. Paul has over 15 years of experience in the field of development and fundraising, with a focus on arts and education organizations.

Paul began their career as a Development & Marketing Consultant for American Conservatory Theater. In this role, they were responsible for increasing individual, foundation, and corporate support for the theater. Paul also oversaw all aspects of their annual giving program. After three years in this position, Paul was promoted to Director, Individual & Foundation Relations. In this role, they managed a portfolio of major donors and prospects, as well as overseeing all grant writing and reporting.

In 2011, Paul left American Conservatory Theater to become the Director of Development for the San Francisco Education Fund. In this role, they were responsible for leading the development and communications planning and implementation for the organization. Paul also managed the board Governance and Development & Communications Committees. Working with the board leadership, they rebuilt the board from 8 to 16 members, significantly increasing board giving and fundraising success. With their team, they raised more than $2.5 million to implement a new strategic plan. Paul also worked with a small strategic planning committee of staff and volunteers to redefine the organization and set it on a path to improve college-going outcomes in the San Francisco Unified School District.

In 2013, Paul left the San Francisco Education Fund to become a consultant. Paul provided development and marketing consulting services

Paul Knudsen completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics from Williams College and then went on to complete a Master’s Degree in International Marketing from ESMA.
