David Chiu

David Chiu currently serves as the San Francisco City Attorney, representing the City and County of San Francisco in legal matters and providing counsel to various city departments and officials. Previously, Chiu was elected to the California State Assembly for four terms, where David represented the 17th Assembly District and served as Assistant Speaker pro Tempore. Additionally, Chiu held the positions of President and Supervisor for District 3 on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, becoming the first Asian American and the first Board President to be elected for three consecutive terms. Earlier in their career, Chiu was the Chief Operating Officer and Co-Founder of Grassroots Enterprise, and held various legal roles including Staff Attorney at the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights, Assistant District Attorney in the San Francisco District Attorney's Office, and Judicial Law Clerk for the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Chiu's educational background includes degrees from Harvard Law School, Harvard Kennedy School, and Harvard University.
