Sarah Roberts currently serves as the Senior Director of Curatorial Affairs at the Joan Mitchell Foundation since June 2024. With extensive experience at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art since 2004, Sarah serves as a Curator and is responsible for organizing the upcoming exhibition "Amy Sherald: American Sublime," set to open in November 2024. Previous roles include Andrew W. Mellon Curator and Head of Painting and Sculpture, Andrew W. Mellon Curator of Painting and Sculpture, Andrew W. Mellon Associate Curator of Painting and Sculpture, and Associate Curator of Collections and Research at SFMOMA. Early career experience includes curatorial positions at the RISD Museum and deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum, along with a Graduate Internship at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Educational credentials include a Master's degree and Ph.D. (ABD) in History of Art from Brown University and a Bachelor's degree in Fine Art from The University of Texas at Austin.
