Shana Lopes is an experienced art historian and curator specializing in photography. Currently serving as the Assistant Curator of Photography at SFMOMA since April 2019, Lopes has previously held notable positions such as the Andrew W. Mellon Dissertation Fellow at Rutgers University and the Jane and Morgan Whitney Fellow in the Department of Photographs at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Additional experience includes roles as a Research Fellow, Research Assistant, and Intern in various prestigious institutions. Lopes holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Art History from Rutgers University, a Master's degree in Art History from the University of Arizona, and a Bachelor's degree in Communications from the University of Pennsylvania.
