Zach Canter has extensive experience in recreation management, currently serving as the Harvey Milk Summer Camp Manager and Recreation Coordinator at the San Francisco Recreation & Parks Department since 2014, where responsibilities include program development, staff management, and public relations. In addition to coordinating events for the Harvey Milk Photo Center, Zach contributed to the Recreation Beautification Project as a Cultural Arts Intern. Since September 2015, Zach has also held the position of Site Coordinator at Growth and Learning Opportunities, overseeing program events and staff while ensuring effective communication with parents. Previously, as a Senior Administrative Teacher, responsibilities included assisting with program logistics and maintaining administrative records. Zach holds a Bachelor of Science in Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Administration from San Francisco State University, completed in 2014.

The San Francisco Recreation and Park Department’s Mission is to provide enriching recreational activities, maintain beautiful parks and preserve the environment for the well-being of everyone in our diverse community. The San Francisco Recreation and Park Department administers more than 220 parks, playgrounds, and open spaces, including two outside the city limits-- Camp Mather in Yosemite Valley and Sharp Park in Pacifica, Calif. Our park system includes 25 recreation centers, nine swimming pools, five golf courses and numerous tennis courts, ball diamonds, soccer fields and other sports venues. Included in the department’s responsibilities are the Marina Yacht Harbor, the San Francisco Zoo, and Lake Merced. Our staff members are diverse, committed and talented recreation and park professionals, from gardeners, foresters, and recreation leaders to park patrol officers, custodians, electricians, painters, and more.
