San José Clinic
Yun (Vivian) Gao, Pharm. D., is a dedicated pharmacist with extensive experience in clinical pharmacy and patient care. Currently serving as a volunteer pharmacist at San José Clinic since May 2021, Gao previously worked at UnitedHealth Group-OptumRx as a clinical pharmacist from August 2015 to August 2021, where expertise in Medicare Part D prescription management and collaboration with healthcare professionals was demonstrated. Prior roles include serving as a clinical pharmacist for CVS Health/Aetna Pharmacy Management and as a staff pharmacist at Deerbrook Pharmacy, LLC. Additionally, Gao has contributed to research aimed at improving minority health during a tenure as a research assistant at Texas Southern University. Gao earned a Doctorate of Pharmacy from Texas Southern University and studied at Xi'an University of Finance and Economics.

The original safety-net clinic in Houston, the Clinic is a leading provider of quality healthcare services for individuals and families in the greater Houston area who struggle the most with accessing care. Responding to the rising rate of infant mortality in the Mexican community of Houston, in 1922 Monsignor George T. Walsh appealed to the Charity Guild of Catholic Women to establish a free clinic to serve the health needs of the poor. From humble beginnings, San José Clinic has grown into a health home for thousands of Houstonians in need. Ninety-five years later, we proudly uphold the legacy of our founders by continuing to provide healthcare for those who need it most. We are a 501(c)(3), a United Way agency, a Texas Medical Center institution, and a ministry of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston.
