James Dobson

James Dobson has a diverse work experience. James began their career as a Staff Environmental Scientist at Lowney Associates in 1997. In 2001, they joined the San José Fire Department, starting as a Hazardous Materials Inspector II and gradually moving up to Firefighter, Fire Engineer, Fire Captain, and currently serving as the Deputy Chief since February 2022. Besides their roles in the fire department, they also run Dobson Consulting Services as a Hazardous Materials Compliance and Training Consultant starting from 2003.

James Dobson attended California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo from 1991 to 1996. During this time, they pursued a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Soil Sciences.

The San José Fire Department (SJFD) is committed to serving the community by protecting life, property, and the environment through prevention and response. San José was founded in 1777 and is located in the South San Francisco Bay area within Santa Clara County, CA. It is the 10th largest city in the US and the 3rd largest in California.
