VP IT & CIO at San Jose State University

Bob Lim is the current Vice President for Information Technology & CIO at San Jose State University. Prior to their current position, Bob served as the Vice President for Information Technology at the University of Texas - Pan American from January 2005 to June 2011. In this role, Bob provided executive, technological, and enterprise leadership to the 10th largest university in the state of Texas, the 5th largest in the UT System and ranked 32nd among 100 top public colleges and universities in the U.S. by Forbes.com in 2009.

Bob served as the University’s senior spokesperson concerning technology, computing, security, and system issues as they relate to administrative, fiscal, student support, academic areas, and daily operation of the Information Technology Division. Bob supported over 18,850 students and over 2,000 staff/faculty members and managed an IT division consisting of 147 full-time IT employees and an operating budget of $13.6 million.

Bob chaired the UTPA’s Information Technology Planning Council and Institutional Effectiveness Task Force and actively collaborated as a member of the UTPA’s President’s Cabinet, UT System’s Strategic Leadership Council, Information Resource Manager to the State of Texas, Board Member of the LoneStar Education and Research Network (LEARN), and served on the Finance Committee. Bob collaborated and offered leadership to external stakeholders; represented the University as a senior officer in technology to the State of Texas, UT

Bob Lim completed their Master's in Business Administration at Saint Mary's College of California and their Bachelor of Science in International Business at San Francisco State University.

They work with Jeff Konya - Athletics Director, Mohamed Abousalem - VP, Research & Innovation, and Coleetta Mcelroy - Interim SVP for Enrollment Management. Their manager is Steve Perez, President.
