Alex Kramer, MPA, has had extensive experience in the field of workforce development and entrepreneurship. From 2016 to the present, Alex has held the position of Director of Workforce Development at the San Mateo County Community College District. In this role, Alex has focused on empowering faculty with resources and industry connections to develop career education programs that prepare students for in-demand, well-paying jobs. Alex has also worked to establish partnerships with local high schools and adult schools to create educational pathways for students through dual-enrollment and articulation agreements. Additionally, Alex has overseen the Workforce Hub, which provides students with internship and employment opportunities through workshops and networking events with local employers.

Prior to working at the San Mateo County Community College District, Alex served as the Acting Director of the San Mateo County Small Business Development Center (SBDC) from 2018 to 2020. As part of this role, Alex provided counseling and training services to business owners and worked to generate economic impact in the county through the development of new businesses, attainment of loans and equity investment, job creation and retention, and sales increases.

From 2016 to 2018, Alex worked as the Director of Workforce Development at Cañada College. This role involved supporting career education programs and initiating a task force to allocate Strong Workforce Program funds to align programs with industry-recognized skills and certifications. Alex also managed a satellite campus in East Menlo Park that aimed to connect local residents with college programs.

Prior to these roles, Alex served as the President of A7 Strategies, Inc. from 2012 to 2018. A7 Strategies provided consulting and grant management services to education, non-profit, and government entities throughout California. Alex also worked as the Deputy Sector Navigator for Small Business & Entrepreneurship at the California Community Colleges from 2013 to 2016, and as the Director of the Business & Entrepreneurship Center at Cabrillo College from 2010 to 2013.

Throughout Alex's career, they have demonstrated a commitment to promoting economic growth, job creation, and the development of a job-ready workforce through their work in workforce development, small business development, and entrepreneurship. Their expertise and leadership have made a significant impact in their field.

Alex Kramer, MPA has a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree from San Francisco State University. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Business Administration with a minor in Public Relations from Humboldt State University. Alex also holds an Associate of Arts (AA) degree in Social & Behavioral Sciences from Citrus College. In addition, Alex has a Certificate of Completion in International Business & Intercultural Communication from HEIG-VD.

Alex Kramer has also obtained several certifications throughout their career. Alex has a certification in Project Management Simplified from LinkedIn, obtained in October 2021. Alex also completed the Managing Perkins Funding and Accountability certification from the California Community College Association for Occupational Education in 2019. In 2018, Alex graduated from the Leadership Program (30th Graduating Class) offered by Chamber San Mateo County. Furthermore, they hold a Facilitator Certification for Planning the Entrepreneurial Venture™ from Kauffman FastTrac, earned in June 2014. Additionally, Alex obtained a Career Technical Education/Economic Workforce Development Master certification from the California Community College Association for Occupational Education in March 2014. Lastly, they hold a Small Business Consultant Certification from the Northern California SBDC, earned in August 2009.
