Scott Oesterling has extensive work experience in the medical field. Scott started their career as a physician at Scott Oesterling MD in 2000. Scott then joined Stanford University School of Medicine in 2000 as an Obstetrician at Stanford Children's Hospital. Over the years, they took on various roles at Stanford University School of Medicine, including Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor and Co-Chair ACF Committee OB/GYN. In 2008, they joined San Mateo Medical Center as Chief of Staff and later became the Chair of the Department of Surgery. Scott also served as Vice Chief of Staff and Hospital Board Member at San Mateo Medical Center starting in 2023. In addition, they served as the Treasurer for the Association of the Adjunct Clinical Faculty Stanford University from 2011 to 2013.

Scott Oesterling has an extensive education history. Scott first attended Georgetown University from 1987 to 1991, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. Following that, they enrolled at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons and completed their medical degree in Medicine from 1992 to 1996. Later, from 1996 to 2000, they attended Stanford University, where they pursued a Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology, earning a medical degree (MD) in that field of study.
