Doug Browning has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Doug began their career as a Director of Technology/System Administrator at Rydek Computer Professionals in 2000 and later worked as an IT consultant handling various roles from 2002 to 2004. In 2004, they joined Coldwell Banker as a Sales Associate and remained with the company until 2007. From 2006 to 2011, they worked at Pinnacle Falls as a Broker and Internet Marketing Consultant.
In 2011, Doug transitioned into the field of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and started working as a GIS Researcher at Resource Data, Inc. Doug then served as a Teaching Assistant at North Carolina State University and as a Lead GIS Analyst at the North Carolina Solar Center in 2011. In 2012, they became a GIS Analyst Contractor at the US EPA, where they worked until 2014.
Doug joined Hancock Forest Management in 2014 as a Geographic Information Systems Analyst and remained there until 2017. Doug then joined Sanborn in 2018, initially as a Geographic Information Systems Analyst, and later moved up to the position of Geospatial Data Systems Architect in January 2020.
Throughout their career, Doug has gained extensive experience in GIS analysis, data systems architecture, and teaching in the field of GIS.
Doug Browning has a diverse education history with a focus on GIS and computer science. Doug obtained a Masters of GIS from North Carolina State University, where they studied from 2009 to 2011. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (Professional) at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh from 1993 to 1997.
In addition to their formal education, Browning has also earned several certifications. These include becoming a Divemaster (DM) and completing courses in Diver Stress and Rescue, Nitrox, PADI Advanced Diver, PADI Adventure Diver, ESRI ArcGIS Desktop Professional, Do-It-Yourself Geo Apps, Google Earth, and Google Maps. Doug has also obtained certifications in North Carolina Real Estate Broker, Open Water Diver, Dell Premier Access Certified Technician, Certified Lotus Professional System Administrator and Application Developer, IBM Certified Specialist - Domino for AS/400 Technical Solutions, Microsoft Certified Professional, and React Right EFR and CPR.
It is worth noting that Browning's most recent certifications are from 2023 and 2022, indicating their ongoing commitment to professional development.
